Worthy is the Lamb

I've attended somewhere in the neighborhood of 25 performances of Handel's Messiah, the most recent of which was just last week. I find the entire work to be exceptionally moving. When I listen to it, I think of my parents (both now in heaven) without fail: my mother's favorite passage was "He Shall Feed His Flock."

My father's was "The Trumpet Shall Sound."

As for me? My favorite is at the very end of the third part. The oratorio's final selection - "Worthy is the Lamb That Was Slain" - is taken from the Book of Revelation and ends with a stirring "Amen."

It nearly takes my breath away every single time I hear it, whether listening to a live performance or via a recording.
