The Word of Our God Stands Forever
With the Labor Day holiday past, we turn the page from summer to autumn (though technically we still have a few weeks to go!). This passage from the Book of Isaiah paints a picture of what we're about to experience in nature - at least in northern climates: the grass will go dormant, the perennials in our gardens will go to sleep, and their cousins, the tender annuals, will die with the first deep frost.
Nothing lasts forever....except...
The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever.
What a wonderful verse! I made this photo of a colorful dahlia before planting my gardens last spring. Waiting for the threat of a late frost to pass, I spent a day working on still life compositions with some of the flowers that were waiting to go into the ground. Using my macro lens to get close to plants - especially flowers - is something I enjoy. I never know what I'm going to walk away with, but that's part of what makes it interesting. This was my favorite image from that shoot.
