Spotlight on Orphan Grain Train
It's been an honor over the years to make appreciation plaques for churches and service organizations all across the country. It occurred to me the other day that readers of our blog may be interested in knowing more about some of what these folks are doing. So today, I'm shining the spotlight on Orphan Grain Train.
Founded in the early 1990s, Orphan Grain Train is a national Christian network with regional divisions of volunteers organized to provide food, clothing and medical supplies to those - worldwide - living in areas where calamities occur.
Since its inception, OGT has sent nearly 2,400 semi-trailer truckloads to more than 66 countries on five continents. This includes shipments which have gone to locations within the United States. Currently, OGT is working in Haiti to provide relief in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew. (By the way, fully 97 cents of every dollar spent goes to the mission: only 3 cents are routed to administration and fundraising.)
Orphan Grain Train has done - and continues to do - tremendous things. If you'd like to learn more about them, check out their website.
