Sad Ending for a Mighty White Oak
Distressing news is coming out of central Massachusetts this morning. According to the Boston Globe, a massive tree in New Braintree - hundreds of years old and believed to be the largest white oak in the state - was destroyed by an arsonist.
The tree had a circumference of more than 20 feet and was nearly 100 feet tall. That beautiful white oak, which for generations provided shade for those who sat beneath it, shelter for countless birds and other animals, and beauty for all who passed by and saw it, now stands ruined. For what reason? A prank? Out of boredom? Just because it was there? What kind of person would do such a thing?
The earth and everything in it exists for the Lord - the world and those who live in it. Psalm 24:1
