Rest in Peace, Eric

Eric Schwartz, the young man who very capably supported my office IT operations for the past few years, died Friday of brain cancer. Such a sad turn of events.

Eric had things running so smoothly here that we only saw each other perhaps once/twice a year. If there were problems along the way, he always made himself available to remote into my system to take a look and see what was going on, so we could typically troubleshoot from a distance. I felt very comfortable knowing I could rely on his expertise to support a critical aspect of my business operations.

Dependable. Trustworthy. Knowledgeable. And all that was wrapped up in a great personality. He downplayed his health issues.

In August, when I saw him last, he told me everything was fine. He was back to his day job, resuming consulting gigs with clients like me, feeling good, and the only residual effects from the surgery were problems with his vision which precluded him from driving. Now this terrible news.

Another reminder that life can change dramatically in the blink of an eye. Rest in peace, Eric.
