O Little Town of Bethlehem

Everybody knows O Little Town of Bethlehem, of course. At least - everybody knows verse 1. Past that, you might need to reach for a hymnal or songbook.

I enjoy reading the lesser known lyrics to some of our favorite carols...the verses you can't rattle off the top of your head. There are some real gems to be found there. This is just one example:

The image above is Portland Head Light in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. It's photographed often and by many...so the challenge is to come up with something different. I knew I wanted to capture the lighthouse decorated for Christmas, but wasn't sure what I was going to do to make this image unique.

The setting sun provided just what I needed...giving a little pop of color in the eastern sky, and providing a little something "extra" to this composition.
