There is beauty surrounding us, if only we take the time to see it! I learned early on as a photographer how important it is to slow down and look at your surroundings. Really look.

Another important lesson? Never forget to turn around! Sometimes the shot is 180 degrees from where you started out.

If we take the time to notice things, it's amazing what we might see: a hummingbird darting in and out of summer blooms. The changing shapes of clouds dancing across the sky. Wildflowers half hidden by overgrowth, blazing with color on the forest floor. How different the same subject looks in morning light versus the evening. An architectural detail on a building you might have passed a hundred times before.

Whether you're in the country or the city, no matter the time of day, there are interesting things everywhere: flowers for each of us!
