My Rock and Salvation
As many of you know, The Christian Gift is now operating out of the Interior Northwest near Idaho's Teton Valley. This is quite a change from New England - which has been home base for the past 20 years. Both regions are lovely, though obviously completely different.
I've been out photographing as much as possible, with an initial focus on Grand Teton National Park - though I've captured the mountains from both the east and west sides. Among the nice things about the view from the west is that it's less photographed and less familiar to many people.
The image above was made in Alta, Wyoming at Grand Targhee Ski Resort. You're looking east: Jackson is on the other side of the mountains. I took the Dreamcatcher chairlift to the top of Fred's Mountain and spent the afternoon watching rain clouds dance in and out of the area. Grand Teton was visible only briefly, but it was worth waiting for it to appear.
With average winter snowfall of 500 inches, Grand Targhee consistently ranks among the top four ski areas in the country. If you're a skier, this no doubt sounds great! I don't ski, so as far as I'm concerned, the jury is out regarding that abundant snowfall...
