It Came Upon the Midnight Clear

It Came Upon the Midnight Clear is near the top of the list of my favorites. As with most well-known carols, you can probably sing the first verse from memory.

Looking more closely at the rest of the lyrics, though, I found a message that spoke volumes to me this year, and thought I'd share it:

All you, beneath your heavy load,
By care and guilt bent low,
Who toil along a dreary way
With painful steps and slow:
Look up, for golden is the hour,
Come swiftly on the wing,
The Prince was born to bring you peace;
Of Him the angels sing.

What beautiful imagery of the amazing gift of Light that was given to this dark world!

God bless your celebration of the coming of the Christ Child.
