Happy 100th Birthday to the National Park Service

Though the NPS has been celebrating its Centennial throughout the year, today - August 25th - marks the actual date the park service was founded. When you think of the NPS, iconic spots like Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, and Great Smoky might be what immediately come to mind.

That said, there are scores of other locations which the service manages - including national monuments, seashores and lakeshores, scenic trails, and historic sites. There's a good chance you're within reasonable driving distance of some type of NPS site.
