Farewell, Feathered Friends

Every spring, we're visited by little feathered friends who take residence in the birdhouse on our deck. They are a welcome addition. Their songs fill the house. When their young arrive, the chorus of chirps - especially enthusiastic when food is delivered to the nest - can be heard throughout the day. The parents are hard working, indeed. They spend long days hunting for food and bringing it back to their young. Still, they always find time to sing. Suddenly yesterday, it was quiet. Where there had been a flurry of activity just the day before.....now we heard (and saw) nothing. Our little friends appear to have departed. I'm always a little sad to see them go.
