Christmas Countdown (Two Days!)

Christmas is nearly here!! We'd all be rich if we had a nickel for every person who's covered today's song: Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. Even though it was written fairly recently (1944), it's one of the most-performed Christmas songs. Judy Garland was the first to sing it, in the movie Meet Me in St. Louis.

Have yourself a merry little Christmas
Let your heart be light
From now on, our troubles will be out of sight

Have yourself a merry little Christmas
Make the Yuletide gay
From now on, our troubles will be miles away

Here we are as in olden days
Happy golden days of yore
Faithful friends who are dear to us
Gather near to us once more

Through the years we all will be together
If the fates allow
So hang a shining star upon the highest bough
And have yourself a merry little Christmas now

Composer: Hugh Martin
Lyricist: Ralph Blaine
