Celebrating Good Friends

Good friends are like stars. You don't always see them, but you know they're always there. 

I don't know who penned that saying, but it's true. What would life be without friends? Real friends. I'm sure you're conjuring up some of your closest compatriots as you read those words.

One of my best friends happens also to be a relative (a nephew).

Though we don't live in the same state, and haven't for many years, we remain close. We happened both to be in New Hampshire last autumn at the same time, so were able to celebrate his birthday together. A treat!
