Beautiful Snow

I look outside during a Nor'easter and see....driveway maintenance.

There was a time, though, (growing up in Illinois) when I couldn't wait to head down to the lake, pull on my skates, and fly over the ice every day after school. I could not get enough of it.

Something happened between then and now. As an adult, the cold is tough to take. My fingers and toes become numb nearly instantly once subjected to cold temperatures. No amount of thermal protection helps. This, and relocating to Northern New England where hundred-plus inches of snow accumulation are not uncommon, have tempered my enthusiasm for the season!

That said, there's something magical about the sight of the landscape blanketed in newly fallen snow. When the flakes come down quietly - unaccompanied by fierce winds and a pounding storm - it's absolutely beautiful.
